For those of you running an asym, do you know the size? Going to order
one “off the shelf this year and a little concerned that a #5 will fit
given the height of the pulpit?

For a 1995 Catalina 320, the standard Size 7 asymmetrical spinnaker is
recommended, with a luff (I) dimension of 43.66 ft and a foot (J) of 12.33
ft. This sail typically has an area of approximately 742 sq ft (approx. 69
m²) and a 165% LP rating.

Different manufacturers make different sizes so you need to know your
dimensions as well as the range of wind speed that you will be sailing in.
The weight and type of sail material varies by wind conditions...

Thanks. Appreciate it. We are going to stay smaller than a #7 because we
are going to use a tacker instead of adding a bowsprit. Since we need to
keep the sail above the pulpit, the #7 won't fit. We are debating between
a #5 and a #6 (typo in my original message). Luff length is 18 inches
different (41 for the #6 and 39.5 for the # 5). Worried about how much
space the sock will take up too.

I suggest calling Quantum sails and then Doyle sails...
They have a lot of knowledge about the 320 and the specifics.
