Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeler to support a state government
client in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade data
architectures and pipelines. This role focuses on data modeling, ETL
development, data quality governance, and data pipeline optimization, with
strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, compliance, and data governance.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in Alteryx Designer, Oracle
SQL Developer Data Modeler, and modern data engineering practices, supporting
environmental and public-sector data initiatives in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines and architectures using
Alteryx Designer.
Create and maintain logical data models using Oracle SQL Developer Data
Modeler.
Read, write, update, and transform structured and semi-structured datasets.
Develop and maintain ETL code repositories.
Perform data cleansing, validation, aggregation, enrichment, and
transformation.
Define and implement data quality standards, controls, and metrics.
Monitor data quality and execute remediation plans for data issues.
Optimize data workflows, processing pipelines, and performance (caching,
indexing, tuning).
Ensure data privacy, security compliance, and governance standards.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders on data quality,
security, and governance.
Establish data governance frameworks for analytics and automated decision
systems.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Maintain documentation for data models, pipelines, and governance frameworks.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Environmental Science,
Information Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years of experience in data engineering, ETL, and pipeline development.
Hands-on experience with:
Alteryx Designer
Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Strong knowledge of:
Relational database design
Data modeling principles
Data warehousing, data lakes, or lakehouse architectures
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience implementing data quality frameworks and governance standards.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Experience working in structured, regulated environments (public sector
preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
3–5 years of experience with Alteryx Designer.
Familiarity with environmental science, water quality, or related domains.
Experience with BI tools such as Qlik Sense.
Experience in state government or public sector projects.
Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks.
