Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with AWS core services (VPC, EC2, IAM, ALB/NLB, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
- Hands-on experience with containers and Kubernetes (EKS) , Docker
- Experience with serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway)
- Proficiency with AWS CLI and scripting for automation
- Experience using Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines
- Working knowledge of Git-based workflows and automated deployments
- Ability to both design and implement cloud solutions
- Understanding of cloud cost management and performance optimization
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Role Overview
The AWS Architect / Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining cloud solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role combines hands-on engineering with architectural responsibility, ensuring AWS environments are secure, scalable, cost-effective, and aligned to business requirements. The role works closely with application teams, DevOps engineers, security, and stakeholders to deliver cloud-native and modernized workloads using AWS best practices and automation-first approaches.
Technical Core & Responsibilities
AWS Architecture & Design
- Design AWS architectures for cloud-native, containerized, and traditional workloads
- Define solution designs covering networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing), compute (EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda), and storage/databases (S3, RDS, EBS, EFS)
- Ensure solutions align with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles for security, reliability, performance, cost, and scalability
Hands-On AWS Engineering
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
- Build and support container-based platforms using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using AWS native tools (CloudWatch, CloudTrail)
- Perform performance tuning and cost optimization of AWS workloads
Security, Networking & Reliability
- Implement AWS security best practices including IAM least privilege access, network segmentation and security groups, and encryption in transit and at rest
- Design high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies using multi-AZ or multi-region patterns
- Partner with security teams to enforce governance and compliance standards
DevOps & Automation
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment models
- Enable repeatable environment provisioning through IaC and pipeline integration
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on release strategies, environment promotion, and rollback patterns
- Use CLI-based tooling (AWS CLI, kubectl) for build, validation, and troubleshooting
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with developers, testers, DevOps, and product teams
- Translate business and non-functional requirements into technical designs
- Produce architecture diagrams, build documentation, and operational guidelines
- Participate in design reviews and technical decision forums
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications (Associate or Professional)
- Experience in regulated or enterprise environments
- Exposure to healthcare, financial services, or mission-critical platforms
- Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud environments
- Experience with TriZetto products
