Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: Tampa, FL  OR  Toledo, OH

Duration: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

Employment Type: Contract (C2C)

 

 

Job Summary

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Terraform, and CloudFormation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, automating, deploying, and supporting scalable cloud-native infrastructure and CI/CD solutions across enterprise environments.

 

This role requires deep technical knowledge of container orchestration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud operations, automation, and system reliability. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to improve deployment efficiency, platform stability, scalability, and operational excellence.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP environments

Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters including EKS, GKE, or self-managed Kubernetes environments

Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation

Build, optimize, and support CI/CD pipelines for automated build, testing, deployment, and release management

Containerize applications using Docker and implement deployment strategies such as rolling, blue/green, and canary deployments

Monitor infrastructure performance, reliability, and availability using cloud-native and third-party monitoring/observability tools

Collaborate with development teams to enhance DevOps processes, automation strategies, and cloud architecture

Implement cloud security best practices including IAM policies, secrets management, compliance controls, and governance standards

Troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support on-call rotations when necessary

Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, scalability, and operational efficiency

Support infrastructure automation and continuous improvement initiatives across enterprise platforms

 

Required Qualifications:

 

7+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Cloud Engineering roles

Strong hands-on experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Proven experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments

Extensive experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation for infrastructure provisioning and automation

Strong expertise with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms

Solid understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration and networking fundamentals

Experience with Docker and container orchestration best practices

Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar

Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in distributed systems environments

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Experience with Helm and Kubernetes package management

Knowledge of multi-account or multi-project cloud architecture strategies

Exposure to security automation, vulnerability scanning, and compliance tooling

Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices

AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or related cloud certifications are highly preferred

 

Soft Skills:

 

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Comfortable working in Agile and fast-paced environments

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Self-motivated with a strong focus on automation, innovation, and continuous improvement

Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams
