Job description
Role Overview We are seeking a highly experienced QA Automation Engineer to own and drive end to end quality assurance and AI enabled automation for a member portal redesign and greenfield mobile application build out from the ground up. This role requires a hands on technical leader who can define QA strategy, architect scalable automation frameworks, and embed quality into every phase of the SDLC including web, mobile, API, cloud and microservices-based architectures The ideal candidate combines deep healthcare domain expertise, strong web/mobile/API automation skills, experience with cloud based device testing platforms, and a forward looking mindset on AI powered test automation and quality analytics.
Key Responsibilities QA Strategy & Leadership
• Own the QA strategy and delivery for the member portal (web) and mobile application (iOS/Android).
• Define test approach across functional, regression, integration, UAT, performance, accessibility, and security testing.
• Lead and mentor QA engineers (manual + automation) across onshore and offshore teams.
• Embed quality first and shift left practices into agile delivery.
Automation Frameworks & Tooling (Hands On)
• Design and implement automation frameworks from scratch, including:
o Playwright for web automation (React-based portals)
o Detox for mobile automation (iOS & Android)
o Postman for API testing and automated API regression
• Establish best practices for:
o Test data strategy
o Page object / screen object models
o Reusability, scalability, and maintainability of test assets
• Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps
BDD (Behavior Driven Development)
• Drive adoption of BDD practices across delivery teams.
• Define and implement BDD frameworks using Gherkin style feature files aligned to business workflows.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and BAs to translate business requirements into clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Ensure traceability between business scenarios, automated tests, and JIRA stories.
Microservices & API Testing
• Lead testing strategy for microservices based architectures, including:
o Service level testing o Contract testing
o Integration and end to end flow validation
• Validate RESTful APIs for correctness, performance, and error handling.
• Ensure robust test data management and service virtualization where required.
Cloud & Azure Testing
• Own QA considerations for cloud native deployments on Microsoft Azure, including:
o Environment readiness and configuration validation
o Testing across Azure services (App Services, AKS, APIs, storage, queues as applicable)
• Support testing in CI/CD pipelines built on Azure DevOps
• Validate scalability, resiliency, and deployment readiness in cloud environments.
Device, Browser & Environment Coverage
• Leverage cloud based testing platforms to ensure broad coverage:
o Sauce Labs
o BrowserStack
• Define device/browser matrices covering:
o iOS / Android versions
o Cross browser web compatibility
o Real device vs emulator strategies
• Integrate test execution results into sprint level and release level reporting.
AI Based Automation & Quality Intelligence
• Introduce AI enabled testing capabilities, such as:
o AI assisted test case generation and maintenance
o Intelligent regression selection and risk based testing o Defect prediction and flaky test detection
• Leverage AI insights to: o Improve test effectiveness and execution speed o Identify quality hotspots and systemic delivery risks
• Educate teams and leadership on practical, enterprise ready AI adoption in QA.
Agile & Delivery Integration
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies and planning sessions.
• Partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Engineering Leads to ensure testability and quality acceptance criteria.
• Drive alignment between development, QA, and release management.
• Ensure JIRA stories are well defined with clear acceptance criteria and test coverage.
Test Management, Reporting & Governance
• Maintain all QA artifacts in JIRA and Azure DevOps, including:
o Test cases, execution results, defects, and metrics
• Provide regular, executive-ready reports on:
o Test coverage and automation progress
o Defect trends and quality health
o Release readiness and go/no go recommendations
• Ensure compliance with healthcare and regulatory quality expectations.
Required Qualifications
• 10+ years of experience in QA, with at least 5 years in a QA Lead / Automation Lead role.
• Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch for web and mobile applications.
