Title: Shopify Developer

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 month contract

 

The environment includes a mix of API integrations and manual data ingestion. About half of vendor connections are API-driven, while others rely on CSV uploads and manual inventory updates that must be normalized and reconciled before entering the platform. Strong API and structured data experience is critical.

 

This role will also support the ongoing shift away from a third-party vendor integration layer to internally built AWS services. The contractor will help maintain and enhance the Shopify platform while contributing to custom integration components being built with AWS Lambda.

 

Core Responsibilities of the Role

Own vendor integrations end‑to‑end

Act as the technical liaison with vendors:

Work directly with vendor technical contacts

Explain APIs and data requirements (vendors vary widely in technical maturity)

Primary focus on API integrations (preferred method)

Secondary responsibilities:

CSV data review, reconciliation, and transformation

Supporting lead developer on new application development initiatives

JSON is critical

Some SOAP exposure

Key things the client is looking for:

• Strong Shopify development experience, including Shopify APIs
• Very solid REST API experience with JSON payloads
• Experience integrating external vendor systems and troubleshooting data flows
• Ability to work with structured data including CSV ingestion, mapping, and reconciliation
• Comfort supporting integrations in an AWS environment (Lambda-based workflows)
• Ability to communicate with vendors and guide them through technical integration requirements

 

The person in this role will function as a supporting lead developer for integrations, helping vendors connect to the platform while also assisting with custom Shopify and AWS development as the system evolves. The team is working through a backlog of vendor integrations and needs someone who can operate independently and move integrations forward without heavy oversight.
