Position: Technical Project Manager (Change Management & User Adoption)
Location: Day 1 onsite Jersey City, NJ
Client: AIG
Work Experience: 11+ years

Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager with a strong emphasis on change management and user adoption. You will own the end-to-end decommission roadmap for legacy systems, coordinate cross-functional efforts, and ensure smooth transitions with high user adoption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and manage the end-to-end decommission roadmap for legacy systems, including scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and success criteria.
  • Lead change management activities to drive user adoption and minimize business disruption during transitions, including stakeholder engagement, communication plans, training, and support.
  • Collaborate with IT, Security, Compliance, Data Governance, and Business Units to plan, approve, and execute decommission activities in alignment with governance and risk standards.
  • Develop and execute a structured adoption strategy (sponsorship, readiness assessments, training plans, and measurement of adoption metrics).
  • Create and maintain project artifacts: project charter, program milestones, RACI, risk and issue logs, change impact assessments, communication plans, and training materials.
  • Define and track success metrics for decommissioning projects (time-to-decommission, data migration completion, policy enforcement, user satisfaction, incident reduction).
  • Manage resource planning for the project: identify staffing needs, assist with job descriptions, participate in hiring processes, and onboard new team members effectively.
  • Provide regular status reporting to stakeholders and leadership; escalate blockers and propose solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with data retention, regulatory requirements, and security considerations during decommissioning.
  • Post-decommission activities: archive artifacts, capture lessons learned, and reinforce new processes and systems.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of project management experience, with a track record of leading change management initiatives and driving user adoption.
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end decommissioning or large-scale migration projects, preferably involving legacy systems.
  • Strong change management framework knowledge (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR) and hands-on experience executing adoption strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project/Planner, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet) and collaboration platforms (Teams/SharePoint, Slack).
  • Ability to create and manage RACI matrices, risk registers, and project governance artifacts.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in requirements gathering, gap analysis, and success metric definition.
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization and coordinating cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with data migration, data governance, or archiving strategies.
  • Knowledge of security, privacy, and regulatory considerations related to decommissioning (e.g., data minimization, retention policies).
  • Change management certification (Prosci or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with vendor/supplier management and contract alignment for decommission activities.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or service management concepts.
Competencies
  • Change leadership and influencing skills
  • Strategic thinking and decision-making
  • Stakeholder engagement and facilitation
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Organization and time management with a bias for action
  • Attention to detail and quality-oriented delivery
