Job Title: VMware Systems Administrator

Location- Harrisburg, PA ( Hybrid) - ONLY LOCALS FROM PA AND ONLY H1B (NO RELOCATION)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced VMware Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize enterprise virtualization and infrastructure environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VMware technologies, Windows and Linux server administration, networking, Active Directory services, and infrastructure lifecycle management. This role requires excellent troubleshooting, communication, and project execution skills to support critical business systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain VMware virtualization platforms including vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), and Log Insight.
  • Manage physical and virtual server infrastructure across enterprise environments.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and support Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and Linux-based appliances.
  • Design, implement, and maintain complex infrastructure solutions to support business and operational requirements.
  • Perform system optimization, capacity planning, patch management, upgrades, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
  • Administer and support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related enterprise services.
  • Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data protection and business continuity.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization, storage, networking, and operating system issues.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects and ensure deliverables are completed within established timelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to support infrastructure initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Provide on-call support and respond to critical system or emergency issues outside of normal business hours when required.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in VMware administration and enterprise infrastructure support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • VMware vSphere
    • vCenter
    • vSAN
    • NSX
    • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
    • VMware Log Insight
  • Experience administering physical and virtual server environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and Linux appliance administration.
  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise authentication services.
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with patch management, system upgrades, and infrastructure lifecycle planning.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, or related).
  • Microsoft or Red Hat certifications.
  • Experience with enterprise storage technologies and SAN environments.
  • Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure platforms and hybrid cloud environments.
