Former-Sen. WWII Hero Stevens Killed in Alaska Plane Crash

I just heard a statement from a Senator from Hawaii who said they
mostly disagreed on policy but Stevens was never disagreeable. I
understand he is considered a state treasure in Alaska.

Maybe Colomoon has more information.

Unfortunately it seems to be a hazardous place for small-craft flying: The
great humorist Will Rogers and his famous pilot Wiley Post were killed in a
crash in 1935, and another crash in 1972 claimed the lives of Louisiana Rep.
Hale Boggs--US House Majority Leader and Cokie Roberts' father--and Alaska
Rep. Nick Begich, the father of current Alaska Sen. Mark Begich.
