After discussion at the last meeting, I'm going to take a stab at
learning and teaching everyone the crocheted temporary cast on. It's
used for things like when you make a fisherman scarf and you want to
knit in both directions from a single cast on - like when a scarf has a
heart design that you want to be right side up on both ends.

We'll be going to the Coffee Emporium on Monday and Fiber Naturell on
Wednesday, so see you there!

Hi Serti! Sounds like a great idea - I've been meaning to learn this
for some time so now I have no excuse! What should we bring for yarn
and needles?

I am interested in learning this method. What is the date and time in July
and what do I need? I have been away for awhile because of my back surgery.
Thanks, Kathy Miller

Monday the 18th, 6:45 pm, at the Coffee Emporium. If it goes over
well, I'll demo the lesson again for the Wednesday night crowd on the
27th, 7 pm, at Fiber Naturell.

As far as supplies, all you really need is a crochet hook and some
scrap yarn - two different colors would be good - and knitting needles
of the appropriate size (in other words, no fingering weight with size
15 needles) to knit a couple of regular rows. If you have never
crocheted in your life, this will be a good first step to learning how.

I have a bunch of crochet hooks I can bring but they are all different
sizes. They'll do in a pinch, but if you have an H, I, or J hook that
would be good to bring too.

I only own one crochet hook....and I know how to do the cast on...so my
question is this....and I'm gonna need to know within 140 days (I'm
doing one row a day (or more), and thats when I should be finished) how
do you do a crochet cast off from knitting. The wedding dress says
"BO using the crochet method" and even though it litterally does a step
by step in writting....my brain isnt wrapping around the concept. I'd
figured I would get to it when I got there but for some reason I have
been on fire and I am actually ahead of shedule so I am going to need
to know soon.

Therefore I need to know, after you teach the cast on....are you gonna
have a complimentry class on the cast off?

I don't think I've ever heard of the crochet bind off, or if I have,
I'm not versed in it. I'll keep an eye out for it or try to make some
sense of your instructions for you. If anyone else knows how this
works, please come to the meeting or talk to us on the board.
