I don't know how I stumbled across this site, but it has some neat free
patterns that will disappear forever on September 1st. The website is
from an ex-acrylic yarn maker but you can substitute whatever yarns you
like instead as long as you hit the gauge. I particularly like the
Kitty Dreams blanket and the Bulky Knit Pullover.

Bob posted on the Meetup.com board http://knitting.meetup.com/70/ that
he has downloaded a copy of all the patterns, so if anyone wants them
after the Sept. 1st deadline, drop him a line.
