Meetup or Google? You're welcome at both

Due to potential legal issues, I have made the decision to go ahead and
pay Meetup's $9/month fee to keep our group on their board. I've
thought a lot about the pros and cons of doing so, and some other
factors have figured in - including the community on the Organizer
board as well as the convenience of the RSVPs, the existing threads,
the group contact feature, the hits on Google, etc. So, if you like the
Meetup features better, feel free to use them; if you like it here
better, that's fine too. I will keep this Google group to provide us
with more hits, as well as the potential shift over from Meetup when I
can't afford to pay the fee anymore/it gets ridiculously high.

Call me a megalomaniac but I also didn't want the option of our group
to be taken over by another organizer who might not have the group's
best interests in mind. (If you guys don't like the job I'm doing, I
think it would be more prudent to put it to an internal vote, not just
let anyone grab the group.)

Anyway, either way, our group is here (and there) to stay, and we will
have 2 places for people to search for us and find us, so that is a
good thing! I will keep updates on both boards so people don't miss
anything.
