Operation Granny Squares

I got the following note from one of our newest members, Amber, and
believe it would be a great idea for those interested. I have an aunt,
her friends, and my half-brother still on the "unknown" status list in
New Orleans - and I think my aunt would've thought this a really nice
gesture for the victims of Katrina to know someone out here cares.

Hey Serti,
My name is Amber and I live in the Green Hills area. I
stumbled across this group while searching for Cincinnati
Knitting Groups... how fun. I travel for my work (pretty
constantly), but I'm home every few monthes and it'd be great
to come and knit with y'all.
I know I'm new to the group, but I've just started a relief
organization to make home-made blankets for those effected by
the hurricane.
I'm taking donations of granny squares (knitted or crocheted)
to be assembled into blankets and donated to the relief effort
in the aftermath of the hurricane. I've set up a blog that
will give you more information on the process and where to send
completed Granny Squares.

If you know anyone who would like to volunteer beyond making
squares let me know. I'm sure there will be a few afghans to
assemble.
I just feel so hopless in the aftermath of this tragedy, and I
felt like there had to be something I could do, some way that I
could use my gifts to help people who need comfort. What
spells comfort better than a home-made blanket.
