Job Title: Desktop Support Specialist

Location: Onsite (Harrisburg, PA)


Job Type: Contract

 

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT/Desktop Support Specialist to provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining systems, and ensuring optimal performance of end-user devices.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 / Level 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a timely manner
  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows / macOS operating systems
  • Manage Active Directory (AD) including user accounts, permissions, and password resets
  • Support Office 365 / Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
  • Perform system imaging, patching, and updates
  • Diagnose network connectivity issues (LAN/Wi-Fi/VPN)
  • Configure and support printers, scanners, and peripheral devices
  • Maintain IT inventory and asset tracking
  • Document issues and resolutions using ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)
  • Provide remote support using tools like TeamViewer / Remote Desktop
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, security standards, and procedures

 

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in desktop or technical support
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Windows 10/11 and basic macOS support
    • Active Directory & Group Policy
    • Microsoft 365 / Office Suite
    • Networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, Jira, etc.)
  • Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers)
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity best practices

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications
  • Experience with ITIL processes
  • Knowledge of endpoint management tools (SCCM, Intune)
