Anyone interested in doing an " Etsy" booth at the BeeCrafty Holiday
show? It is at the fairgrounds, November 7 and 8th. All items have
to be handmade, no imports. I will be reserving a booth soon and
anyone interested can share the space with me. It is a 10x10 booth,
cozy, but a chance to have fun! I will submitting the application
Monday, September 1st.

Thanks-

Amanda(Twiggli)

Sounds interesting!

Other than things being handmade, are there any restrictions/
specifications on what kind of stuff can be sold?

The application states: This is a hand-crafted show; all items must be made by the vendor.  That's really the only rule.  I just talked with the woman who is organizing the event and said pretty much anything handmade is fin:, photography, clothing, soap, etc.

She also mentioned that she likes to know what will be in a booth, just so she knows where to place the booth.  I will need signatures on the application of anyone interested, so maybe we could all meet at a location sometime next week.  I have never been to this event, I am not sure how big it is.  It is super reasonable, $100 per space, which includes both days.  All that is required for now is a $25 deposit, which I will cover.  If lots of you are interested, we could even do two booths, then split the total cost.

If your for sure interested, get some pics of your product, that I can hand into her with the application.  I asked her if she had heard of Etsy...she hadn't, and she is a craftin' woman.  This would be good Etsy exposure!

This is not the snowflake boutique.  If you go to the fairgrounds website, it is listed under upcoming events.  I posted more info on our group page...under the BeeCrafty message.  Have you been a part of the snowflake boutique before?  When is it?

This is my first time, I am apprehensive, because my items are not
classically holiday gifts. But I thought I would go holiday oriented
with a few things. The "jury" approved my carriers, and doodle
clothes and some baby crib shoes I am making but don't have up yet. I
am thinking of making the shoes and a few doodle clothes "holiday"
oriented or just seasonal. One of the "jurors" really likes my
carriers and thought it would be good. I don't know. I am hoping to
reduce the % of consignment fee by working the show.

It is Nov. 7-8 at the expo center. Thats why I asked. Same weekend.
Since I already paid my entrance fee and am in, I am gonna focus on
that show. If I have enough stock, I would be glad to put things at
an Etsy booth and pay a portion of the booth fee. But I won't know
until the end of October as to where I am at with it...

I think your stuff would make great gifts!  Like you said, go holiday with a few things and people will love it.  That's crazy the events are the same weekend, which could be good for both shows really.  It will offer lots of variety to the consumer.

I understand about having enough stock, I never seem to produce consistently.  I work better under pressure, like having this craft show to work towards.  If I have to, then I'll do it!  Even though I love making stuff...it doesn't make sense really.

Well, let me know at the end of October if you want to put some items at the other show.  Hopefully I'll get a chance to wander around the Snowflake show!!
Good Luck!!

So what really does one need to do for a show? Nick and I are
interested, but I don't think we really know what we're getting
into. :)

That's funny, I feel the same way.  I think the biggest hurdle would be how to display.  I was thinking about borrowing some neat old tables and whatever else I can piece together for an eclectic, but professional look.  I am hoping to go to a few local events and do some booth research, for ideas.  The rest seems easy to me.  Just have items displayed nicely and priced and  have business cards available.

I am willing to be there both days for the entire show, if committing to the time is an issue.  It could be kind of like a group garage sale, whatever you sell will be recorded individually on paper and cash distributed at the end.  Even if you want to contribute only a few items for the event,  the more contributors involved, I think, the more appealing the booth would be.

Also, the Snowflake Boutique is that weekend, which means people will probably going to both events.  Kelley is doing that show...maybe she has some pointers for us.  Kelley?  What are you doing to prepare for that show? Any tips?

I think we are all new to this whole event thing.  Kind of exciting and kind of scary!

The snowflake boutique is different from anything else I have done,
becasue it is set up like one big boutique. Versus individually
vendors. So they have all the shelving, tables, display etc. Thats
why its consigned versus an individual profit. They have you pay for
all of your purchases at once and then they divvy out monies where its
due. That way people pay with a credit card, and end up buying more
usually. I have a feeling there will be alot of toll painting and
crochet ornaments, etc. But I am really interested to see if there is
anyone else like me there. The jury is put together so that they
don't have duplicate items, so there shouldn't be anyone else selling
Mei Tai's or crib boots. But, you never know what the same means...

At other shows, I have tried to show people what the carrier is.
Either by wearing a baby doll ( up until two months ago my toddler was
too much for a long event! Now I have an infant, not such an issue in
display.) So I would print out very clear pictures of how to wear the
carrier and had a dummy up. The other things are self explanatory,
just clear pricing, business cards, good display for perusal and
friendly attitude. Most of my business is drawn by just greeting
everyone that walks by!

Great info! Thank you!  How do you display?  Do you bring in tables?

Yes. I have a big table, and then I use a wooden drying rack
sometimes and I have a clothing hanger rack also...
