The City of Joplin has reached out to their sister cities and
communities in Missouri for assistance in repairing and rebuilding
their city. The City of Byrnes Mill’s Public Works Director, Tony
Whitby, has volunteered to go to Joplin for a few days to assist in
anyway he can. He will be collecting supplies to fill his vehicle and
trailer (hopefully!). Many items are still needed by Joplin citizens
as follows: Children’s clothing, small toys and games, cleaning
supplies, general household items, pillows and bedding, pet items,
infant items such as formula, diapers and wipes, first aid kits and
extension cords.
They're asking for things like tarps, styrofoam coolers, flashlights,
batteries, socks, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and toys. All donated
items must be brand new and unopened.
Please donate what you can and bring to the Byrnes Mill Public Works
Dept/Recycling Center before 10:00am on Tuesday, June 21, 2011. The
hours of business are Monday through Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm and
Saturday 7:00am – 3:00pm.
If you prefer to donate money, please visit
