The 20th Annual Big River clean-up will take place on Saturday August
27th. Our Stream Team will be meeting at Byrnes Mill Park (take out
point) parking lot at 8:30AM. We will shuttle our boats and canoes to
the put-in point at Rockford Beach at the Hwy W Bridge Big River
access. The team will float down to Byrnes Mill Park. Along the way,
we will be collecting tires, cans, bottles, trash and anything else
that doesn’t belong in the river. We’ll float a little over a mile and
a half which takes about 2 - 2 ½ hours.
We are looking for additional volunteers and boats. Jon boats work
best, but canoes are also useful. This is a wonderful opportunity to
make a difference in your community and to meet other concerned
citizens. We have T-shirts and gloves for everyone who registers
early. If you are interested in helping please call Jim McBroom at
636-677-4196. Wear clothing you can get wet and dirty. Bring drinking
water and sun screen.
You will be surprised how pretty the Big River can be.
