The Waypoint Amateur Radio Club would like to announce a new D-Star repeater in the Kansas City area - WA0RC.  It is a 70 cm D-Star repeater at 442.525 MHz with a +5 MHz offset.  It is located in Olathe, KS at 151st St and Ridgeview nearby I-35.

The internet gateway for the repeater is not up yet, so you will be unable to link it with other repeaters at this time.  We are waiting on our network connection to be setup. Once that is done, it will be linkable as the other D-Star repeaters are.

If you are new to D-Star or just need a reminder of the settings for talking on the repeater without linking, set these fields this way:
UR: CQCQCQ
R1: WA0RC▪▪B
R2: (leave this one blank)

Each "▪" stands for a space in the R1 field

Finally make sure "MY:" is set up with your call sign.

I'd appreciate it if you try using it over the next few days if you could send me a report of how well it worked for you.  Please understand as we work on the finishing touches with it, the repeater may be down at times.

I'd also like to mention that the repeater hardware was formerly NW0K of the Trojan Amateur Radio Club in Colby, KS.  You may have seen a message a few months ago regarding this repeater.  We'd like to thank the Trojan ARC for giving the repeater hardware to us.  We hope we can provide a good home for it for years to come.

We'd also like to thank Gil Ludwig, WA0YCY and the Santa Fe Trail ARC for coordinating with us and Trojan ARC.  This likely would not have happened without Gil's help in linking our groups together.

Finally I'd like to thank all of the members of the Waypoint Amateur Radio Club who helped in getting it set up and for donating money or pieces of hardware that were needed.  It's really been a great team effort.  Also, thanks to Garmin for providing the space and the internet connection to come.

Let me know if you have any questions.
