A compilation of 4 stories, "Bottle Masala" follows the lives of four
friends in 1970s Bombay, together and individually, as they face the
hardships of young life. Eventually, most of them redeem themselves,
but some don't, and all meet an end appropriate to their choices. It's
based on the colorful lives of the people of Bandra in the 70s, before

d)Seeking Producers/Co Producers for a South Asian Documentary
Hi! I am a writer and a filmmaker based in New Jersey.
I have a very compelling idea for a documentary, which
is based on a different sect of South Asians living in
US and the treatment will be very bollywoodish, packed
with entertainment and with appearances from both
Hollywood actors as well as South Asian Role Models
living in US. Since there is a lot of star value
attached to it, the project becomes commercially very
viable in India as well as abroad. The total budget is
$75,000. You can be a producer or a co-producer or may
even offer your equipment or services.

i)FRAME OF MIND
The first international short film competition & film festival
dedicated to erase the stigma surrounding mental health issues
Filmmakers from different cinematic traditions have portrayed and
interpreted insanity in many different ways, sometimes helping to
further our understanding of mental distress, and at other times
reinforcing our prejudices and sacrificing integrity for the sake of
offering entertainment.
Frame of Mind is a rare opportunity to view the most sensitive films
made in the world that have attempted to erase the stigma surrounding
mental health issues. It will showcase the best feature and short
films from all over the world in a non-competitive section.
In the competitive section we seek to counter negative, inaccurate and
cliched images of people with mental illness. We encourage you to
create clean, accurate, realistic and optimistic short films
portraying those living with mental illness.
Here is your chance at making a short film that best reflects the
struggle to erase the STIGMA surrounding issues related to mental
illness (and not mental retardation).
Alternatively the films can also portray the HOPE for those with
mental illness and/or their caregivers.
The film festival is a part of the International Conference on
Schizophrenia (IConS) scheduled from October 13-15, 2006 in Chennai
(Madras) India. It is organized by Schizophrenia Research Foundation
(SCARF), India's premier Non Government Organization, committed to the
cause of schizophrenia. SCARF is collaborating with the World
Psychiatric Association on the global anti-stigma campaign and is also
a Collaborating Centre for the World Health Organization.

k)CREW CALL
Filmmaker documenting the border crossing from Amritsar, India into
Lahore, Pakistan; then, following the Indo/Pak border; and finally,
documenting the train ride from Karachi, Pakistan to Rajasthan, India
via the Thar Express (a newly re-started service after 40 years). Along
the way talk with people about their memories of partition. A
docu-portrait will emerge within the striking visual compositions, the
perfect ground for which these stories will surface. Seeking
suggestions for an Urdu/English speaking companion while travel from
Lahore to Karachi. If they were interested in films, the experience
would be even more beneficial. Also in need of the final capital to see
this project through. Currently, 3/4 of the funding is in place--just
need $1500 for essential supplies. Help a rarely explored topic get
documented, and
Producer credit is a given. Thanks in advance. Contact: Sarah Singh
