Hi Everyone,

As a continuation of last week’s questions, we have a few more we
would really like your inputs on. Please introduce yourself before
posting you replies to the above questions, it would be great if we
could know your name, age, country and what you are doing these days.
The format is similar to how everyone has answered questions from last
week.

1. In your country, could young people involve in the all level of the
programmes (including programme design, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation) and policy making process? If so, please describe.

2. Do you think does your country have already achieve meaningful
youth participation? If so, please skip to question 6. If so, do you
think what your government and your organization could do to improve
the youth participation in your country?

3. Please rank the following suggested topics for an skill building
session from 1 to 5 with 1 being the most important and 5 being the
least important. Feel free to add your own in the blank option.

1. How to conduct a successful advocacy campaign
2. How to develop the youth leadership to hold governments accountable
3. How to integrate human rights into your daily work
4. How to increase youth participation into some key stakeholders or
key events, such as Global Fund, UNGASS review process, ICPD review
process, etc.

We would really love to have your feedback, as we're all trying to
make this year's youth engagement at ICAAP a meaningful space for
everyone and the greater insight we get on the contexts everyone is
working in, the better we are able to do so!

Oh, and I'm Ishita Chaudhry, 24 from New Delhi, India and I work with
a Non Profit Youth led and run organization, The YP Foundation.

Many thanks,

Ishita.

Hello Everyone!!

I am Vinita Sharma, the national focal point (Nepal) for Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA) and a member of the advocacy sub-committee. First of all, I would like to thank you all for your participation in this e-consultation. Your responses have been very insightful of the real response to youth issues in HIV and AIDS at different parts of the world.  Continuing the process, here are this week’s three questions.

QUESTIONS:

Week 3
1. What key messages do you think we should deliver during the ICAAP?

2. Imagine that you are at the conference. What kind of tools, actions or events do you think would serve the purpose of visibility around the advocacy message? (e.g. t-shirts, rallies, pins, posters, stickers, etc) Keep in mind that there is a limit on the budget for materials and events.

3. If there is a youth-adult commitment desk during the ICAAP, which encourage adult to give commitment to young people, what could you suggest to do to attract decision-makers come to the commitment desk and make practical and realistic commitment to young people?

We hope that you will continue to support us by sharing your thoughts and experiences.

In response to HIV and AIDS,
Vinita

Hi Colleagues,

I am Amalaha, Raphael Obinna, 32 years old from Nigeria. I work with
Afrigrowth Foundation Inc in Nigeria.

See my answer to Week 3 Question:

QUESTIONS:

1. What key messages do you think we should deliver during the ICAAP?
a) Youth: Say No to Pre-Marital Sex
b) Youth involvement in HIV/AIDS awareness creation in the rural areas
c) Youth mentoring: A Panacea for HIV/AIDS Spread Reduction

2. Imagine that you are at the conference. What kind of tools, actions
or events do you think would serve the purpose of visibility around
the advocacy message? (e.g. t-shirts, rallies, pins, posters,
stickers, etc) Keep in mind that there is a limit on the budget for
materials and events.

ANSWER:

Outside t-shirts, rallies, pins, posters, stickers as you mentioned, i
suggest the following too: Conference Back-Bag, Cap, Conference
Proceedings, Directory of all participants with their detailed contact
data for networking purposes, crested bangles, etc.

3. If there is a youth-adult commitment desk during the ICAAP, which
encourage adult to give commitment to young people, what could you
suggest to do to attract decision-makers come to the commitment desk
and make practical and realistic commitment to young people?

ANSWER:

Firstly, i will smile at them and give them a flyer/pamphlet that
contains detail information on youth-adult commitment to young people.
After, i will tell them the need for them to come to the Desk or stand
for more information. It can also be displayed via Posters and pre-
announcement during the conference. Besides, it should be included in
the Conference Programme or activities.

Thanks,
Obinna Amalaha.
