Background: Metro has kindly donated use of a dedicated server to the
byCycle project.

The Metro server is mostly set up and ready to serve the trip planner
app. The app itself is mostly ready to be deployed. Here are the
outstanding issues that need to be dealt with before making the
switch:

* Handle multiple matching addresses for route queries
* Make the "link to this page" link functional
* Handle "link to this page" queries
* Add Bike There! map overlay
* Test in Internet Explorer 6 & 7
* Set up virtual host in Apache for tripplanner.bycycle.org
* Figure out what to do about Milwaukee, WI

There are a bunch more things on the to-do list, but the items above
MUST be taken care of before switching from the current version
running on shared hosting to the new version running at Metro. The
idea is to get the new version released with functionality that's
equivalent to the current version, and then once the new version has
had its kinks worked out, adding new features should be a snap.

Most of the stuff on this list should be pretty straightforward. The
first few items will just require porting some code from the current
version to the new version. The last item (figuring out arrangements
with Milwaukee) might be trickiest.

Part of my motivation for writing this is to keep myself on track for
getting done just what's necessary for an initial release. I also
wanted let everyone know that things are still moving forward and see
if anyone has any ideas, suggestions, new info, etc.

A pre-alpha (pre-pre-beta) version is viewable at <http://
bycycle.metro-region.org/tripplanner>.
