I want to let you know about two new resources from Advocacy Advance, a partnership between the League of American Bicyclists and the Alliance for Biking & Walking.
1. People often ask how communities are paying for specific types of bicycling and walking projects and programs. One of the questions we get most is how communities are paying for protected bikeways. To answer this, we compiled information on 75 different protected bikeway projects in cities across the country. The table includes funding sources used for each project. Thank you to the many APBP members who contributed information for this project.
Here’s the report: http://www.advocacyadvance.org/docs/PayingForInnovativeInfrastructure.pdf
If this is a topic of interest, I strongly recommend the webinar recording featuring Randy Neufeld from the SRAM Cycling Fund and the Green Lane
Project, and Kyle Wagenschutz, Memphis’s Bike Ped Coordinator and 2013 APBP Young Professional of the Year. (Recording: http://vimeo.com/99338948, Slides: http://www.advocacyadvance.org/docs/FundingInnovativeFacilitiesWebinar.pdf)
2. We’ve also recently released a report on state-level revenue sources that have been used for bicycling and walking projects: http://www.advocacyadvance.org/statefunding/. Use the interactive tool to search by state or revenue source type (e.g. which states are using school zone speeding fines?).
Register now for the July 15th webinar (2:00PM EDT) on this resource: https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/458855440. It will feature stellar panelists: Mary Ebeling from SSTI, Steve Doster from Mission Readiness, George Wolff of Pennsylvania’s Keystone Coalition, and Ken McLeod & Brighid O’Keane from Advocacy Advance.
Sincerely,
Darren
