I know we wanted to get a petition together by Tuesday C4C events. So I wrote a starter text; now someone else pick it up and improve it.

Amy, any legal wording needed that a lay person can understand?

We will need forms made for names, etc. also.

PETITION STATEMENT

Include Bike and Pedestrian facilities in the proposed TDOT project at I640/ Broadway/ Old Broadway.

Petition Background

Bike Walk Knoxville opposes Tennessee Department of Transportation's (TDOT) project plan for I640/ Broadway/ Old Broadway that increases vehicular traffic without providing bicycle or pedestrian facilities, thereby violating TDOT and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) bicycle and pedestrian accommodation policy. This corridor is a critical connection for non-motorized transportation and therefore it is essential that bicycle and walking facilities are included in the design. Bike Walk Knoxville is requesting that bicycles and pedestrians are accommodated in this project through the installation of sidewalks and bike lanes that allow safe passage through the project area.

Here is a petition form. I did change the text slightly. If ok, we can print it and use for the C4C event in am then also use it online though i am not sure how to get signatures online.

wow- i just tried to use mail chimp real quickly and that was not something i can teach myself in five minutes. we need to get the word out that we've got a petition to sign sometime tomorrow though!! i will be in court all day after C4C :-/
