eg. If you look at the NDX Oct exp today. NDX = 1823.
add +1 1825c/-3 1875c/+2 1900c will cost around $5 debit. It is ridiculous that IB charge 2500 in margin.

The sad story is that I never managed to get the answer --either from IB support, or from 'friends and family' on this board and others. For some reason --no one (user of IB) was willing to spend 5 minutes to price a BWB on the IB platform and to check for the maintenance margin they require.
The e-mail exchange with IB support could be described as a scene from twilight zone—at best.
