Latest Report on Malawi Teacher Education and Availability

Aphunzitsi,

I am looking for a document or report that has information regarding
teacher status in Malawi including on teacher education, teacher
conditions, teacher availability and gaps for all levels particularly
primary and secondary levels. The last document i saw on teacher
education was a 2006/7 Draft National Strategy on Teacher Education
and it was not exhaustive; There was also a document on capacity
assessment for primary and secondary education (2008/9) but it was not
as updated. Finally the EMIS 2013 (released in February 2014),
contains some stats on teachers for primary and secondary, but it is
not exhaustive. I have read a report by CSCQBE on EFA Review in Malawi
2011, but it doesn't go deep on the matters.

Hi Limbani,

It's possible someone has the documents you are looking for, but from what I have, the 2013 EMIS and the 2013 Joint Sector Review (JSR) are the most current documents.

I think the 2014 versions of both documents are due out any time now. I hear the 2014 JSR is underway as I'm writing.
