Colleagues, you might find the attached short video interesting.

During the Minister’s recent visit she noted that Enrollment at LUANAR had increased exponentially to the extend of being equal to that of UNIMA (combining four colleges). LUANAR was created after Bunda college was delinked from Unima. Then it’s enrollment was very low. But now it’s doing very fine thanks to delinking !

CoM has just (last week) handed 600 hospital beds to Ministry of Health. If we had delinked, I am sure someone would have linked this to what a delinked college can do.

Prof Muula,

Had CoM delinked, not only would you have donated 1,000 hospital beds, you would have developed a coronavirus vaccine. You would have named it CoMVax.

For argument sake, suppose it was not Bunda that went out first, if it was KCN, Poly or CoM that delinked first, would we have been seeing the same or similar things as at LUANAR? Of course this is a hypothetical question.

Of course without serious reforms UNIMA is a dead institution, unfortunately.

I will draft up a response and present in a public article. That said, there are likely to be many views as to how this can be achieved. Kind regards,

These are the questions people should have been asked to improve UNIMA before MPs were fooled into supporting a preconceived plan.

I personally find it unethical for  UNIMA delinking consultants to pretend to be disinterested implementation advocates. Be quiet now and let those with dissenting views and proposals talk.

Are we sure UNIMA is failing to up enrollment because the colleges are bundled?  Give us a better and more academic argument, please.

Was it Prof Tiyambe Zeleza who gave a paper on how Unima could increase enrolment and improve delivery without disbanding? He came all the way from Nairobi only to be ignored.
