Oxfam International (OI) is a confederation of 14 likeminded organizations
working together with over 3000 partners in more than 100 countries
including 33 countries in Africa to find lasting solutions to poverty and
related injustice.
Oxfam International Liaison Office with the African Union, the OI-AU works
in the framework of Oxfam Pan Africa Programme with partners, coalitions
and citizens in Africa in support to the African Union by raising
awareness on the AU, supporting citizens? engagement with AU organs and
decision making process, supporting various AU programs and projects as
well as the implementation of AU policies at national level on issues
including Economic Justice, peace and Security, Gender Justice and
Governance.
OI-AU is now seeking to recruit for two new positions to be based at the
OI-AU office in Addis Ababa. Both positions will report to the Head of
Office.
Media and Campaign Officer - National/International Position
We are looking for someone dynamic and self driven to support policy and
strategy development for OI-AU on various issues including Economic
Justice, Peace and Security, Gender Justice and Governance.
The incumbent?s main task will include but shall not be limited to: Work
with Oxfam Pan Africa team, Global and Regional media officers to
support, develop and deliver on key strategies and Africa wide issues such
as the AU summits, Ministerial and Expert Conferences, as well as Global
issues/events such as the G8 summit, G20, among others. Write press
releases and short communication materials at short notice, organise and
coordinate media events, keep track of media opportunities and monitor
coverage, and at the same build and maintain a strong relationship with
media based in and out of Addis Ababa. Develop Africa wide media campaigns
and awareness rasing, be able to build our partners? capacity to
effective communication issues including social Medias, develop and
disseminate information eg, newsletters, brochures etc, perform other
duties as assigned by the manager.
In addition to a Bachelor/Masters Degree the person shall possess at least
three years? experience at an international level in policy, advocacy and
communication with experience with media and NGOs. Excellent oral and
written communication skills, experience in developing and delivery on
media strategies, as well as ability to work in a multi-cultural/national
environment. Fluency in both English and French is essential.
Finance and Administration Officer ? National Position
This person will be Responsible for the effective management of Finance,
Logistics and Administration sections. She/he will undertake to: Manage
the day to day operational financial activities of the Office, contribute
to developing and delivering targets and plans within the office.
Contribute to developing of internal and external reports, as well as
donor reports in accordance to our donor requirements, Interprets
financial information; provides analyses and advice to the Head of office
and/or other programme officers on a range of complex issues including
managing legal compliance and financial risk. Contribute to project work.
Ensure effective support and adherence to policies, procedures and best
practice as set by Oxfam International Secretariat Finance Department,
Support and advise programme staff on financial management and control
issues, Support the fundraising process by reviewing proposal budgets,
Oversee all logistics processes, including purchasing, warehousing,
communications and transport, while ensuring that Oxfam logistic
procedures and guidelines are adhered to.
In addition to a bachelor Degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent
professional experience, the person shall possess: Excellent experience in
the application of strategic financial management, ability to influence
and support colleagues in financial standards, experience in matrix
management, ability to gain and apply knowledge of the national statutory
requirements, strategic thinking, effective verbal and communication
skills including high level inter-personal and representational
capabilities, perform other duties as assigned by the manager. Fluent in
written and spoken English is a must.
