Burhani Women’s Association Quarterly Meeting (with raza from Janab Aamil Saheb)

Hijri:  1436, 30th Moharram il Haraam

Attendees:  Bhabhisaab, Munira Bahen Miyaziwala, Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala, Zainab Bahen Zafar, Rashida Bahen Ghiya , Jamila Bahen Hararwala, Sakina Bahen Nagarwala, Jamali, Amena Bahen Patwa, Rashida Bahen Patwa, and Maryam Bahen Jamali

 

Meeting Recap: 

 

I.                  Roles and responsibilities of BWA members in terms of expectations of Aqa Moula (TUS)

 

a.     Bhabhisaab began the meeting with emphasizing that dil si, actions si, ane zabaan si khidmat kare and when Aqa Moula’s (TUS) khushi is kept in mind, khidmat won’t feel like a “job” but rather as a sharaf.

 

b.     Baheno have a great influence and important responsibility in ensuring that they and their families attend majlis and sabaq.

 

II.               New Groups for 1436

 

a.     Since some of the Burhani Women’s members have changed after Sherullah, new groups were created for 1436 (the new groups and their responsibilities are listed below the meeting minutes).

 

b.     The groups may be re-evaluated at a later date if necessary.  However, several hours were spent creating the current groups based on various factors.

 

III.           Individual’s responsibilities for hosting quarterly meetings

 

a.     Munira Bahen Miyaziwala read the list of baheno and the order in which they will host quarterly meetings. 

 

b.     Maryam Bahen Jamali, Munira Bahen Miyaziwala, Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala and Zainab Bahen Zafar have already hosted.

 

c.      Amena Bahen Patwa will host the next quarterly meeting, and it was decided it will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21.

 

d.     Each BWA member will get an opportunity to host a quarterly meeting and because of the number of members, each member’s turn will come every five years.

 

e.      It is the responsibility of the host/group to send out a message about the upcoming meeting and invite baheno. If for some reason, a ben can’t host, she needs to switch with someone else well in advance.  The host will also need to put together a short demonstration and will have to work with her group to organize snacks for the meeting.

 

IV.           List of events/activities for this year

 

a.     The list of events/activities was read by Munira Bahen Miyaziwala and Maryam Bahen Jamali.

 

b.     Sabeel-e-Hussain, Tasbeeh araz during Ashara Mubaraka, bhaji and roti for Aashura, and Imam Hussain (SA) Majalis have already been coordinated this year.

 

V.               Fun event

 

a.     It was decided that we would have one fun event this year for all BWA members just after Eid ul Fitr.

 

VI.           Assign events to each group

 

a.     Chitthi was drawn and events for this year were divided amongst the three groups (see each group’s events/activities below).

 

b.     For some events like Burhanuddin Moula’s (RA) Urus Mubarak, one group may take charge of menu planning but all groups will be involved.

Meeting ended with snacks and a creative presentation by Zainab Bahen on how to make a reusable canvas lunch bag.
