Burhani Women’s Association Quarterly Meeting (with raza from Janab Aamil Saheb)

Venue:  Fatema Bahen Lokhandwala’s residence

 

Attendees:  Munira Bahen Miyaziwala, Maryam Bahen Jamali, Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala, Zainab Bahen Zafar, Rashida Bahen Ghiya, Amina Bahen Patwa, Fatema Bahen Lokhandwala, Rashida Bahen Ronaque, Fatema Bahen Charawala, Sakina Bahen Iqbal and Rashida Bahen Patwa

 

Meeting Recap: 

 

I.                   Meeting began with Tilawat al Quran by Zainab Bahen Zafar.

 

II.                 Baheno enthusiastically shared their personal experiences and memories about Ashara Mubaraka. Each bahen seemed to have a special experience and sharaf to share.  At the same time, all talked about how amazing Aqa Moula’s (TUS) waaz was and Ashara Mubaraka in Houston was as a whole.

 

III.              We discussed events/activities for the year.

a.     Baheno felt it is a good idea to keep Burhanuddin Moula’s (TUS) Urus and 30^th Raat Sihori menus similar each year so baheno may plan well in advance.

-The menu discussed for Burhanuddin Moula’s (TUS) Urus: Malido/Sooji, Mixed Tikka Platter, Vanilla Ice Cream, Roti (for Hashmo), Hashmo, Kachumber, Achaar, and Fruit.

b.     We talked about having a painting activity and dinner as the fun Burhani Women’s event on Saturday, February 6^th, at 4 pm. Rashida Bahen Ghiya and Rashida Bahen Ronaque would get more information.

c.      BWA organized Mithi Shitabi is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 20^th (13^th Jamad il Awwal) or Saturday, February 27^th (20^th Jamad il Awwal).

 

IV.              We talked about the need to have a fundraiser this year as we have already had some extra expenses like Mithi Shitabi (as part of Ashara Ohbat) and our najwa and niyaz araz during Ashara Mubaraka were more than previous years.

a.     Baheno felt "Anand Mehla” along with having a raffle(s) would be a good way to raise funds.  Tentative dates discussed were May 13, 14, or 15 (7^th, 8^th or 9^th Shabaan).

 

V.                Gilafs for this year need to be completed.

a.     Namazi of gilafs and sewing needs to be completed by December 15^th. 

-         Zainab Bahen Zafar and Rashida Bahen Ghiya will take care of sewing and namazi of one gilaf.

-         Rashida Bahen Patwa and Radia Bahen Patwa may be able to take care of sewing and namazi of second gilaf. If they aren’t able to do it, we will talk to Fatema Bahen Habib.

b.     Ronaque Family may be able to take gilafs to Mumbai. If they can’t, we will need to find a backup.

 

VI.              Next Meeting has been scheduled for April 2^nd at 5:30 pm at Fatema Bahen Charawala’s home.
