Burhani Womens Association’s Quarterly Meeting (with raza from Janab Aamil Saheb)
Hijri: 1436, 3rd Jamad il Awwal
Gregorian: Febuary 22, 2015
Venue: Amena Bahen Patwa’s residence
Attendees: Munira Bahen Miyaziwala, Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala, Zainab Bahen Zafar, Sakina Bahen Nagarwala, Amena Bahen Patwa, Radiya Bahen Patwa, Alefiah Bahen Kantawala and Maryam Bahen Jamali
Meeting Recap:
I. Qarzan Hasanan
a. We need to implement ways of giving more emphasis to Qarzan Hasnan and starting collection on a regular basis.
b. It was suggested that baheno should do niyat at home of putting a certain amount aside on a weekly basis, and then we could collect the amount at each quarterly meeting.
II. Mithi Shitabi (organized by BWA) was discussed in detail
a. It was decided that this year’s mithi shitabi theme would be “Quran” since Muffadal Moula (TUS) has been stressing the importance of hifz and daily Quran recitation.
b. The mithi shitabi has been planned for the evening of Friday, March 14 (24th Jamad il Awwal). Munira Bahen Miyaziwala with the help of Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala will create the invite and would request all baheno to wear joris.
c. In order to incorporate the “Quran” theme the following ideas were discussed:
- Have a brief session on how to recite Quran like Surat un Naas correctly (Sakina Bahen Nagarwala could possibly help with this session)
- Discuss the health benefits of reciting Quran
- Have a quiz about the Quran which Alefiah Bahen Kantawala volunteered to create
- Have a menu planned around foods that are referenced in the Quran and maybe also have posters on the walls discussing the benefits of these foods
d. The color scheme would be maroon and gold and a few hadiya ideas were shared such as a bookmark, Khatmul Quran dua, etc.
e. Baheno would not be sitting in specific thaals like last year, but we would do something to highlight and acknowledge those hosting shitabi thaals.
f. We decided that baheno wanting to do niyat of mithi shitabi should sign up for atleast one full unit (one thaal), and we are expecting signups for 8 thaals. – The amount per thaal is $153, and baheno should contact Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala or Zainab Bahen Zafar to sign up. A posting will be sent out soon.

III. Channi/Safra Set for Moula (TUS)
a. We previewed a sample of a channi/safra set to get an idea of how it should be and its dimensions.
b. It was discussed that rather than having a workshop where baheno make their personal channi/safra set, it may be a good idea to have Burhani Women’s members get together and work on a set specifically for BWA Seattle. One group could take charge of stitching the channi and another group could stitch the safra and towels.
c. Munira Bahen Miyaziwala and Tasneem Bahen Haveliwala could purchase material for the channi/safra set to coordinate with blue gadi takya set that we have for Moula’s (TUS) tashreef aawri.
IV. Next quarterly meeting
a. The next quarterly meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, May 30, (12th Shabaan) at Fatema Bahen Lokhandwala’s residence.
Meeting ended with snacks and a brief presentation by Amena Bahen on creative ways to light an outdoor pathway.
Amate Syedna (TUS),
