There is a controversy regarding Sri Rajasekhara charitramu being the first Telugu novel.
Veereshalingam Pantulu's claim of his novel being the first stayed undisputed until Srirangarajacharitramu's copy was discovered by a researcher.
This novel Sri Rangarajacharitramu was written by Sri Gopalakrishnamma chetti.
It was sibmitted by him as part of his recruitment for ICS is what is mentioned in the gazette that was discovered by the researcher.
The gazette record had a copy of the novel without its cover page attached to it.
It is said that the researcher was able to retrieve the covrr page too later.
The gazette record has a date of eighteen hundred and sixty eight. Sri Rajasekhsracharitramu has a publlication date of eighteen hundred and seventy two.
