I am looking for a subhashita shloka which means: confession is the best (form of) devotion.  I do not recall any word of the shloka. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks and regards

One of the nine methods of devotion is आत्मनिवेदनम्, which includes confession.
There is no question of one method of devotion being better than another, much less, the best.
In श्रीमद्भागवतम् all nine methods are mentioned as

OK. Atmanivedanam has a very wide connotation, like surrendering oneself completely to Bhagavan. Is there any particular shloka for 'confession' like ?

Very nice shloka with a lofty bhaavanaa.

I don't recollect any exact single subhashita; but the practice of that is reflected strongly in the Stotraratna of Sri Yaamunaacaarya

Thanks for these wonderful verses. The second one comes close to the sense that I am looking for.

Shortest popular prayer of confession:

This is probably the most well-known and most apt prayer inclusive of confession and seeking pardon.

None of these have the nature of a Subhashita  as requested in the first post.

True. While many good shlokas and lofty ideas/ideals have been presented, the subhashita-type is not yet encountered.

Indian confession can not be expected to match with the institution of Catholic church, wherein one confesses on Sunday and starts sinning from Monday onwards till next Sunday; it can go on and on. We can't cheat God.

A true confessor, therefore, can not seek redemption for the future sins also.

Therefore, it is prayed that दोष committed in the past are be pardoned with a sincere intention not to fall prey to माया again and again. To err is human, but to err again and again is demoniac. । is apt and a reasonable prayer of confession.
