Namaste,

Going over Sri VM Apte's work published in the Bulletin of Deccan College Research Institute "The RgVeda mantras in their ritual setting in the grhya sutras",  I found his statements in the final pages interesting. For one, he mentions about a collection of Rg mantras in 15 grhya sutras that he had compiled by then. Secondly, he writes about his intention to do a similar mapping on Asvalaya srauta sutras to begin with.

I am looking to find materials in these two contexts by him, or others. I tried to find in the JSTOR collection but a bit more refined search would help. Could the scholars in this list help me where to look for such materials?  Are the notes from Sri Apte still preserved or published?  Anybody else in his academic lineage took up the questions for further exploration?  The first part of the two part article was published, incidentally, in 1939...

thanks for any help,
..gopal gopinath

Have you checked the indices of the volumes of R.N. Dandekar’s _Vedic Bibliography_? These are available from the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute in Pune and also — I understand–– electronically.

Dr. Ganesh Umakant Thite is continuing the _Vedic Bibliography_ work. He is accessible through the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.

Dear Dr. Aklujkar,

Thanks for the pointers. I will follow up on the Vedic Bibliography by RND. I may have access to them.  Recently I came across Dr. Thite's two volumes on Apastamba sutras and I will contact him. I do not find his email ID on the site and hopefully an email to the secretary or to a generic id given there should suffice.

Sincerely,
..gopal gopinath

There is a small chance that V.M. Apte's papers and unpublished works may have been deposited at the BORI.  Hopefully, someone there can look into it.

Namaste, Sri Madhavji, Sri Anilkumarji,

my sincere thanks to you both for the information. Will definitely follow up with that. I am trying to re-read Sri Apte's 2-part paper and it is refreshing every time to see his approach and how masterly he separates his explanation of the gnosis of rig mantras used in smartha prayogas from the prayogas and their immediate purport.

sincerely

Just for the information. Take that  Asvalayana Samhita with a pinch of salt. it has very basic mistakes in the swara prakriya. use only for reference or after very heavy editing.

sincerely.
