Respected scholars,
There is a tradition to compose a charama sloka [two?] honoring a respected recently departed vaidika.It is recited on the 13th day function.Is the tradition discussed/ documented in any shastra granthas? If yes, what are the do.s and don'ts?
Regards
GSS Murthy.

I guess there is a situation in Bhoja-Prabandha reg. carama-śloka.

BTW, when I had just finished my MA, and had to attend interviews,
my Sanskrit teacher asked me what I would tell there as my specialisation/special interest.
I promptly said "Composing carama-śloka-s I know well;
and I'll offer to compose one on the interviewer himself."

Goes without saying that I was promptly rebuked
- after a hearty laughter, of course.

Thank you prof. Kannan for your comments. Pandit Narasimhachar, a Gandhian  and Sanskrit scholar, had told me  that charamashloka consists of 2 verses: an anushtup and a vritta shloka. Metre-filling cha vai tu hi to be avoided. Text should indicate tithi paksha maasa of passing away and should simply say that a so and so Srivaishnava reached the feet of sri vishnu due to the grace of his acharya. I was looking for textual support..
Thanks and regards,
Murthy
