The following page says the text 'Bharata Savitri' is an appendix to the Harivamsha, which it itself an appendix of the Mahabharata.  Are there any citations from this work  or reference to this work by name in any important works by noted authors?

As Shri Desiraju Hanumanta Rao says in his introductory note,
the Chitrashala Press Edition  (1936) of Harivamsha with commentary of Nilakantha and  edited by Pandit Ramachandrashastri Kinjawadekar has Bharata Savitri as the last content.
For those interested,
the full list of contents of the Chitrashala edition of HV is available at http://www.dvaipayana.net/harivamsa/cs-toc.html
where you can download the sections in pdf format.

In the prAstAvikam, available  at
you can find shri Kinjawadekar's reason for including Bharata Savitri.
In the text of Bharata Savitri he has given the pAThabheda-s he found in the manuscripts that he consulted.

IMHO there are many interesting shlokas in there.
As far as I know, very few scholars seem to be aware of it, apart from the ones cited by Shri Desiraju Hanumanta Rao.

Many thanks for these links.  I have one question:  Has NilakanTha commented on the Bharata Savitri portion too?

Namaste,

VS Agarwal provides an interesting explanation of the title 'Bharata Savitri' in the preface to his work named 'Bharatasavitri', a study of the Mahabharata, which is available online here

regards
shankara

The four shlokas 87-90 starting with "mAtApit^RisahasrANi" which appear in the 100 shloka Bharata Savitri presented at
are popularly known as Bharata Savitri and appear in the fifth adhyAya of Svargarohanaparva of Mahabharata as shlokas 60-63. But in his Bhavadipa commentary on Mahabharata, Nilakantha has not commented  on these. He just says
"sandhyAyAM bhArataM paThanIyamityuktam |
tatra paThanayogyaM bhAratasArasamgrahaM chatushlokIrUpamAha -- mAteti ||"
