Can anyone help me with the shloka describing the position of the devatas in vishnu panchayatana and its source ?

There seems to be multiple variations in the positions of the other devatas (vishnu is fixed in the centre) and I would like to see if all of these have pramaanas

Thanks
Harish

Namaste,

There is a popular sloka which I learnt from elders which says:

Just as one keeps shiva in the middle, similarly, viSNu should be kept in the middle. Then followed by Shiva in Ishana, Surya in Agneya, gaNapati in nairuti and ambika in vAyavya dik.

Regs,
Sriram

Since the verse recollected by Aayushmaan SriRam :

has यदा,

it can be rephrased for Vishnupanchayatana as

But still, the source is yet to be traced.

In the Text named Nityakarma Puja Prakasa published by Gita Press Gorakhpur they have given the places of the five Gods - Siva, Vishnu, Ravi, Ganapati and Durga in Panchayatana order.
The snapshots of the order and source book are in the attachment of this mail. Please find them.

In the Telugu version of Nityakarma Puja Prakasika published by Gita Press, Gorakhpur in addition to the placement order a source sloka for this order in the name of BOPADEVA is also included. That sloka is:
If I get any further information I shall soon add it also.

Dear friends,

The direction the worshipper faces is important. To my knowledge,  the thumb-rule is that, in the  daytime pujas,  the worshipper  faces the East (or the North may be the right direction for Shakti Puja, i.e. Dirga puja). In the night time puja the worshipper faces the North. The "Havana" is done facing the East. May be,  the other scholars would like to add to this.

Sunil KB

Sunil ji!
The rule mentioned by you with slight difference is applicable in case of Sandhya vandanam. Pratah Sandhya Vandanam and Maadhyaahnikam are performed sitting facing east and Sayam Sandhya is sitting facing West.
As far as the panchayatana puja is concerned the position of the Gods and Goddesses is stable in the puja gruha. It cannot be changed  according to day and night. This is the practice in Andhra pradesh to arrange the deities west facing in a fixed order and the worshippers sit facing them ( facing East) whether day or night.
In Tamil nadu I have seen a practice perfectly opposite to this. i.e. God's face East and worshippers west facing the gods.
I have not so keenly observed the north Indian Practices in this regard.
But one thing is sure that the panchayatana placement positions are not changed according to day and night divisions of time.
If any such practices are there anywhere i am happy to be enlightened.
Pranams
