Dear Indologists,

I would highly appreciate if someone could let me know about the availability of the Brahmasūtra Śrī Bhāṣya of Rāmānuja online in the PDF form. You may get back to me on my individual email. Thank you very much in advance.

Yours sincerely,

Mrinal Kaul

one small query, not to intrigue the mrinal because I know what is intentended by word Indologists, but to discuss it over on the forum.

when we wanted to start this weblist one of our friends asked me who shall be adhikarins of this list? I told him causually  many a names of indologists likely to be members. but he objected to the word indologists
and he told me that these name do not confirm to classical indologists and the indologists itself is not accepatable to many indian schloars. so we went on with vidvat.

is there still debate on indologists?

At the links specified first, I found only English translations, not the muula text.

Thanks for some responses I have received. It is only after trying exhaustively to search for an e-file (either in PFD or .DOC files in Devanagari or Roman script) of the mūla text that I thought of writing to this forum for help. I have obviously come across and downloaded the two volumes as also suggested by Dr S. Mishra. But as you can see they contain the translation only and not the text. I have been looking for the mūla text. A search in the Digital Library of India <http://dli.iiit.ac.in> gives me an entry of Vedanta Sutras With The Sri Bhashya Of Ramanujaacharya Vol I, Ed: M. Rangacharya, Pub: M.C.Alasingapperumal, Madras (1899), but their server seems to be down for some reason. I do not know if the edition of the Śrībhāṣya published from Melkote Sanskrit Academy has been digitalized or not. It would be wonderful if one can have access to the digital copy of the Melkote edition. Thanks to all. MK

This publication contains only a translation of the Bhaa.sya. The muula of suutras alone has been printed in it. It has a somewhat complicated history. I had reconstructed it as follows at the time of finishing my recently published article (2009. "V.rtti and V.rttikåra in Råmånuja's ;Srii-bhå.sya." In Anantam Såstram, Indological and Linguistic Studies in Honour of Bertil Tikkanen, Studia Orientalia 108:  3-20. (ed) Karttunen, Klaus. Helsinki:

Rangacharya, M.; Varadaraja Aiyangar, M.B. 1988, 1991 reprint of second edn. (tr) The Vedānta-sūtras with the Śrī-bhāsya of Rāmānujācārya.  New Delhi: Munshiram Manoharlal Publishers. The first edn details seem to be these: vol 1: published sometime before 1916, brought out by M. Rangacharya. Revised edn of vol 1 and revised text of the previously unpublished vols 2 and 3: 19611965, brought out by M. Rangacharyaæs son M.R. Sampatkumaran. Madras: Educational Publ. Cooperation.

The revised edn has a photographic reprint which alone was accessible to me. From your note I learn that the first volume was published for the first time in 1899, much before the 1916 limit I had been able to determine.
