I came across this review of six books on aspects of "global Hinduism," which can help us in our survey of how we and others describe us and our practices. Like all human endeavors, religions are also part of human manufacturing, especially of the prophetic variety. We have had much debate, testy, challenging, and even rancorous in the IndicAcademy list (now shut down) on matters of the "apaurusheyatva" of some Indian texts, etc., which I mention in the context of "religions are made".
