Namaste,
I have one doubt. I have the understanding that the Vastupurusha is none but Shri Hari(i.e., Lord Vishnu) but I find in the stotra the "Vastupurusha" is being addressed as "Brahma-Ishana-HaripriyaH".--
निराशीर्निर्ममो भूत्वा युध्यस्व विगतज्वरः।। (भ.गी.)

Please observe the following slokas from Varahamihira and Brhaspati as found in all the standard and popular texts on Vastu.
१. अथ वास्तुस्वरूपमाह वराहमिहिर:
किमपि किल भूतमभवद्रुन्धानं रोदसी शरीरेण।
तदमरगणेन सहसा विनिगृह्याथोमुखं न्यस्तम्॥
यत्र च येन गृहीतं विबुधेनाधिष्ठितं स तत्रैव ।
तदमरमयं विधाता वास्तुनरं कल्पयामास ॥
२. बृहस्पतिवचनम्
पुरा कृतयुगे ह्यास्तीन्महदद्भुतमुपस्थितम्।
व्याप्यमानं शरीरेण स्कलं भुवनं तत:॥
तद्दृष्ट्वा विस्मयं देवा गता: सेन्द्रा: भयावृता:।
ततस्तै: क्रोधसंतप्तैर्गृहीत्वा तं महासुरम्।
विनिक्षिप्तमधोवक्त्रं स्थितास्तत्रैव ते सुरा:।
तमेव वास्तुपुरुषं ब्रह्मा समभिकल्पयत्॥
तथा प्रथममसुर: तत: ब्रह्मण: प्रभावेण सुरत्वं प्राप्त: वास्तुपुरुष: त्रिमूर्तीनां प्रियो जात:। तस्य दिव्यं शरीरं समस्तदेवतानामाश्रयो.अभवत्। इति वास्तुशास्त्रग्रन्थेषु बहुत्र प्रोक्त:।

Thank you for your reply. The Vyapakata of the Vastupurusha as stated in a part of the first verse you sent (i.e., व्याप्यमानं शरीरेण स्कलं भुवनं तत:॥) fits in well with the etymological meaning of the word "Vishnu" and even of the word "Brahman". As regards the words "Asura" and "Sura" both of these also have been applied in case of Vishnu. May be that is why some scholars might have tried to interpret the Vishnu purusha as Lord Vishnu. To my knowledge the pratima of the Vastu purusha is made the same as that of Lord Vishnu. There is a practice in some quarters to bury a pratima of the Vastupurusha (in gold) in the vastu before constructing one's house, partricularly while making a house in an unknown area, Kindly correct me if you think differently.
