Seeking Guidance on Studying the Pātañjala Yoga Sūtra

I am a PhD scholar in an interdisciplinary humanities and social sciences programme. I have a background in psychology and am currently focusing on the Pātañjala Yoga Sūtras for my doctoral research. I am looking for a Sanskrit scholar who can help me study the text and the commentaries closely. My teacher Dr. V. Nagaraj has written an elaborate and authoritative commentary on Yoga Sutras based on the several Sanskrit commentaries including Vyasabhasya, Tattva Vaisaradi, Yoga Vaartika, Bhoja vritti.. and several other available bhashyas.

Dear Scholars,

Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I have found the discussion very interesting and enriching.

Interestingly, my grandfather wrote an independent work on the Yoga Sutras several decades ago. The work was never published, and I am currently in the process of editing it with the hope of publishing it someday.

As I work through the text, I may need the guidance and help of scholars who are well-versed in the subject, and I hope to reach out to some of you when the need arises. For me, this project is also a wonderful opportunity to study the Yoga Sutras in much greater depth.

I have already come across several commentaries, both from classical commentators and from more recent authors. It is fascinating to see how much scholarship and interpretation has developed around the Yoga Sutras over the centuries.

I look forward to learning from the collective knowledge and experience of this group.
