Hello All,
I wanted to check if members in the forum can help identiy any courses that could be pursued by a person who though is conversant in sanskrit and vedas does not hold any formal certificates.

Example, for people interested in Hindi, there is "Hindi Prachar Sabha" where one can enroll and take up exams and at their pace.
Are there any such institutions for sanskrit.  I am aware of samskrita bharathi, but I assume that this is more to get familiar with the language and does not get too much into sub-subjects within it like tarkha, vyakarana etc.

Any information(or reference) would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Srikanth

Namasty,
In sanskrit there is a chittur exams. They are conducting exams in 6 levels. Duration is 6 months for each level. If u have facing trouble to attand all papers at a time, then you have to select papers as you wish and complete the level. It is subject oriented so you gaim the knowledge about shastras also.

With Regards

HariH OM!

Namaste,

There are many universities where sanskrit education is formalized.

1.  Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, a Deemed  University, established by HRD ministry of GOI offer Degrees & PG degrees - http://www.sanskrit.nic.in/

2.  Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati, another institution offering formal education in sanskrit.- http://rsvidyapeetha.ac.in/

Both these sources are convenient to pursue higher formal education in samskritam.

Hopefully this info is useful.

Srikanth ji Namo Namah,

I know earlier mentioned Rastriya Sankrit Sansthan (RSS) could be of help, because I am also non-formal Sanskrit background and pursuing Acharya. They have Mukt Swadhyaay Peeth (MSP), which is actually a Distance Learning Center, approved by IGNOU.

In RSS, Anyone who has a Graduation Degree (for admission to Acharya) (in any subject), and has knowledge of Sanskrit on his own, with his own efforts/ Gurukul etc. Could take admission to a Bridge course and then could be admitted to Shastri/ Acharya as the case be.

For Acharya Bridge course - Graduation in any subject (and knowledge of Sanskrit)
For Shastri Bridge course - +2 in any subject (and knowledge of Sanskrit)

For more information, consult RSS website (www.sanskrit.nic.in) and talk to RSS at given number on the website.

Thanks,
Alankar Sharma

Thanks to all who responded.

Chitoor exams appear to be what I need. However could not try to
locate any contact details of the institution on the net.
Is there a website or phone number to contatct them?

Thanks
