Verse in Vishnu Purana

Dear list members,

1) Can someone tell me where in the Vishnu Pruna this verse is.

कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरवती |

करमूले स्थिते ब्रह्मा ग्रभाते करदर्शनम् |

2) If anyone has access to the critical edition of the VishnuPurana by M. M. Pathak could they photograph the page with that verse and its variations and forward it to me.

Thank you Abhiishek,

It was this post on the internet that attributed it to the Vishnu Purana. It has an image from a printed edition with the verse, so I'm wondering if its in an edition of the Vishnu Purana other than the critical edition.

What I'm really trying to find is the source of the very similar and popular verse.

कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरस्वती ।

करमूले तु गोविन्दः प्रभाते करदर्शनम् ॥

I have placed an enquiry to the guy on stack exchange who claims its from Vishnu Purana. I have also seen this verse but as part of some brahmanical puja text long time ago which I don't recall. I am confident that this is not in Vishnu Purana as Vishnu Purana discusses cosmology and history based on how much ever I have read and such a verse feels out of character for Vishnu Purana.

I think you meant Vishnu Purana (VP). I got the source of the SS from him only. He told me he took the SS from Nitya Karma Pooja Prakash. However, he still insists that it's in some recension of the VP as some books attribute it to VP.

Clearly it is not in the VP as can be checked from the wikisource. This is clearly a case of false attribution.

Yes I meant the Vishnu Purana.  I find it strange that the original source of such a popular shloka is unknown. Particularly since it has various versions as noted in the post.
