Dear list

In his essay The Dance of Siva, Ananda Coomaraswamy narrates a legend from the Koyil Puranam

I would like to read a translation of the Koil Purana. Are there any reliable English/Hindi translations?

Thanks, Nityananda

Chidambra Mahatyam Sivaraman E.A. Published by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
Koyil Puranam is a part of Chidambra Mahatyam
I donot know if a section of this Mahatyam has been translated independently into English or Hindi.

There are a number of Sthalapuranas available in Manuscript form and most on many sacred places of South. If these sthala puranas are printed, includuing the literary wealth some Historical aspects also will be high lighted.

Requesting you to please share your experience. To collect these Manuscripts  one consults NCC.  Then the next step would be to approach the  respective depositories. The depositories will give photocopies of the manuscripts and then one edits and prints is this the correct process. Does this sound rather too easy. How approachable are the depositories that hold these manuscripts?

You are very correct Sir,
But how long we will be waiting for this? why there can not be an approach from the learned group to get the manuscripts. How long the authorities of the respective libraries would be thinking that the mss., of their personal property? Sir, just do some thing through the NMM. The repositories are for the scholars.
For your information I am to say there are many sthala puranas found in single copy. I will  prepare  a list and post in the group.
with regards
Mamata
