Subject: Nyasa 'in detail'‏‏

Namaskaram,

I would like to know that any text or a group of texts (grandha) /articles/booklets or anything explaining the following ‘in detail’.

Metre of Mantra, Mudras, different types of Nyasa like Rishyadi Nyasa, Kara Nyasa, Anga Nyasa/Shadanga Nyasa, Pitha Nyasa, Matrika Nyasa, Mantra Nyasa, Devata Nyasa, Tattva Nyasa, GrahaNyasa, Vyapaka Nyasa, Laghu Nyasa, Mahasodha Nyasa, Digbandhana and so on.

I emphasize ‘in detail’ means the following

  1. The Tattva behind each of the Nyasa.
  2. The Procedures to Perform.
  3. Explaining the roots of the Procedure or the ‘sasthram’, i.e., why should it perform and touch the specific fingers (collectively or separately accordingly) to the specific centers.
  4. Changes formed in the Body, Mind and so on.

I am not familiar with Devanagari Lipi. So I need a text in English, Malayalam or Sanskrit with English Commentary.

Most of the internet Resources are only interesting but not eligible for trusting.  They produce more confusion and spread misleading information.

Expecting your favorable reply

jayasooryan

Dear Ghanapāṭhiji,
Unfortunately I am not aware of texts in Malayalam or English. There must be some discussions among the works of Sir Arthur Avalon.
Among Sanskrit works in Devanagari the Śāradātilaka with the Padārthādarśa might help. The matters come up also in the Śāktānandataraṅgiṇī by Brahmānanda Giri ed. PañcānanaŚāstrī, published in the Bengali script Calcutta, 1349 (Bengali Era).
Traditionally the teachings are handed down in the guru-śiṣya or family line so that practitioners find it difficult to refer to books though they themselves perform the act without fault. Also, I am afraid, traditional sādhakas may avoid a forum to discuss matters of personal practice. There are sectarian restrictions. But the nityasandhyā manuals available in every script and major language at least mention when to perform the aṅga- and karanyāsas.
There must be other books but I have consulted only the two books mentioned above and the nityasandhyāpaddhatis. The two books were consulted long ago and that too as a PhD scholar.
There must be more knowledgeable persons in the Parishad who can inform better.
Best
DB
