Confirmation required on the life period of Varahamihira

In some places, I saw the life period of the Indian mathematician, astrologer, and astronomer Varahamihira as 505 – 587 CE. Is there any research work that refutes this period conclusively and suggests a period that is either earlier than this or later than this? Please point me to such work if available.
