A graduate degree, B A  in Sanskrit (as one of the three main courses of a graduate degree or as a second language in a graduate degree) can help people pursue a B Ed and apply for a school Sanskrit teacher 's job . Nowadays school teacher jobs are getting filled in big number though Sanskrit jobs among them could be very small compared to those in English or regional languages.

Most of those with post graduate degree M A in Sanskrit or even those with MPhil and /or PhD are looking for and are getting lecturer jobs in  preuniversity (+2 /Intermediate/junior ) colleges which are bigger in number . Most of those with a PhD or a UGC NET qualification are looking for and are getting Assistant Professor jobs in graduate BA colleges also called Degree colleges which are smaller in number.

Though those with a PhD or a UGC NET qualification are eligible for a University Assistant Professor's job, these are naturally very very small in number.

Other than these teaching jobs, I know many who worked for organizations like C-DAC , Center for Development of Advanced Computing. But such jobs are still rare compared to even university teaching jobs.

Now job market is changing radically.

There was a thread on BVP on ‘Zoho is using Sanskrit to build machine translation software: CEO Sridhar Vembu’

There is a new trending activity in IKS at various universities. NEP 2020 , there is a great philip being given to this.

This is creating new teaching and research opportunities for MA s with PhD or UGC NET qualification .

It would seem, from the focus of Rajpopat's thesis, that there can be demand for sanskrit scholars who understand at least  the basics of machine learning... To teach Sanskrit as a programming language.

The world is moving towards extensive automation through machine learning and there can be sustained demand for Sanskrit scholars for thr foreseeable future... Of agreement is reached on Sanskrit being at least one machine language.

Both are free online and there are other options as well.

Respected members ,

At first iam thankful to Nagaraj Paturi sir for opening a new thread for the question raised by me in another thread.

There are better scholars here and iam a kid infront of their scholarship. But as a person in the society I want to present my views.

Indian society we have the tendency to see sanskrit as a great language treating the scholars with great respect etc. It's very fine for that.

But we missed the society here.
Individuality grabbing the collectiveness.

There is a necessity at now for the collective study / collective work / innovation thoughts / innovation actions in sanskrit field sir.

Please sir i request all the members to have an International / National gathering exclusive for the purpose of
' Employment Generation via Sanskrit '
with the help of Govt.of India in IITs /IIMs etc. Not an individual based institutions /NGOs / Trust/Academiesetc.

We need a change and the govt initiating such a  change means almost National acceptance. Hence i prefer IITs/IIMs were better suitable for such gatherings.

I said govt of India because if their contribution comes that will be game changer in the task of creation of  employment opportunities .

In case if it happens iam ready to present my thoughts like

' Contributions required by govt.of India towards Sanskrit for having
Sanskrit as a new Industry to the world - Minimum one lakh oppurtunities ' .

Thanking you sir.

Namaste

I hope the post responders like Vichitra Thandava understand the complexity
of issues : by expectation, by ground realities, by national priorities,
language –technology relations and trends, and global criticalities.

There are deeper issues for deliberation, prioritization and priority
investments : How important is Samskrutham for attaining ‘ Atma-nirbhartaa /
Vishwa guru status / deliver A.I for All’ , Emerge as ‘Maha / Mahan-
Bharath’….

Prof. Paturi has given pointers for action, which connect to Shivaprasad’s
aspiration.

Giving a segmental solution reference to critique a good intention and a
genuine need should not get a ‘silver bullet shoot down’ attack.

The issue is deeply complex and noodled due to several reasons, out of
which a major part is ‘self-created –self-inflicted suffering caused by the
actions of post-independence Sanskrit Education Policy planners and
implementers itself’ ! over a period of several decades.

The high talk has not translated to deliverable reality. The high promises
and tributes to Sanskrit in Constitution slows down through the
administrative channels of ‘Official Languages’ and ends up in ‘Minority
language lane/ classical language life-line support’.

Quoting the model of ‘Classical Language revival and connecting it to
Computer related developments’ by Jewish language – comparison and as done
at Hebrew University of Jerusalem is not the model which works for
‘Samskrutham at India’.

Reason: Samskrutham has no community model of Jews to invest in it and
guard it.

Samskrutham is NOT Nation Patronized in a way Hebrew is
patronized by Nation and Practicing communities.

Samskrutham is NOT taught – used in EDUCATION – COMMERCE like
Hebrew in National Language priority.

Samskrutham is NOT the medium of instruction, economy,
official transaction or TECHNOLOGY RELATED STUDIES!

CONTRA, there are huge enthusiastic crowds and forces contributing to
promote ‘Anglicized Sanskrit’ to detriment of ‘Panini’!

CONTRA, the inappropriate translations, controversies proliferate to down
grade any value –association with Samskruth studies!

CONTRA, Samskruth –Scholars Professional work/Professionalism is
hype-projected in ‘dishonourable /dishonest’ media mode!

So what is the MOTIVATION for youngster to pursue Sanskrit-Skills for ‘
EMPLOYABLE OPPORTUNITY’?

The genesis of this debate is the ‘claim on Sanskrit Capabilities that has
emerged as a research thesis, which had a specific problem focus.

The thesis per se is neither a global solution for developing a
‘Programming Language out of Paninian rule base’ or ‘ finding a programming
job –employment opportunity to Sanskrit learners’.

So, to be clear of the expectation in the subject line : Employment
opportunities for Sanskrit graduates and postgraduates, the
absolute-initial abinitio review - addressing several dimensions of
‘Sanskrit studies: at graduate and postgraduate level; the course design and
syllabus, the instructional pedagogy, et al. There are reports of several
Sanskrit commissions and global debates on ’What should the Sanskrit studies
be for ? [ Purpose] and What/ for Whom is the deliverable for [ Beneficiary
– Utility]’ . The EMPLOYABILITY part is NO WHERE in the list of Goals,
Objectives, Instructional Pedagogy as far as ‘Sanskrit’ – Language is
concerned.

Not in the Past , Not in the present ! Surprising ??

We have several traditional deliberations which address
‘anubandha-chatushtaya’- the classical model of ‘What why who –when where-
….the W and Wh- questions. Can someone please pull up and give me a pointer
to the question:

Samskrutha –Bhashaa –adhyayanam
KIMARTHAM?

Please don’t take this to Patanjali frame as ‘Kimartham adhyeyam
Vyakaranam? – Rakshohaagama ….prayojanam’.

Patanjali is giving a specific response for the question ‘ Why study
Grammar (= Vyakaranam ) of a language ?’

The answer says : Study Grammar for benefits like - ‘GUIDANCE FOR
STANDARD USE OF LANGUAGE TO MAKE TRUTHFUL EFFECTIVE CULTURED CONVERSATION –
COMMUNICATION (= Samvaada – Sambhashanam). To avoid apabhashita, mlecchita,
prakrutha, dushta…

Sanskrit Grammar study, as an integral part of social need of language,
depends upon a-priory proliferation of ‘LANGUAGE : SAMSKRUTHAM (Bhashaa +
Chandas), used for PROFESSIONS (JEEVIKAA – VYAVAHARA – KARMA- DHANAARJANA-
VRUTTI).

The ground reality of current period SANSKRIT: LANGUAGE USAGE part in
Society is :

(a) BHASHAA MODE: LANGUAGE USAGE with greater compromise for practical
convenience of CONVERSTATION

(b) CHANDAS MODE: Pride in traditional standard HUMAN RECALL- RECITATION
of MANTRAS in Ritual -sacraments.

So, where is the pedagogic consideration of ‘SANSKRIT (Technical) STUDIES
(Techno-linguistic Programming Skills) for PROGRAMMER MODE EMPLOYMENT ?
Please do not pass on the buck to Sanskrit universities, gurukul or
religion institutions.

This being a new challenge of post 20th century, the discipline of ‘HOW TO
MODEL TOTAL - EMPLYABEL SKILLS FROM SAMSKRUTH LANGUAGE STUDIES (Inclusive
approach of Vyakarana and Nirukta (Morphology, Semantics) has to be
deliberated. Techno-Samskruth Linguistic deliberations needed for DEMANDING
WHAT KIND OF TECHNOLOGY IS NEEDED TO HANDLE SAMSKRUTHAM is to be decided.

In the absence of which deliberations : Computer Programmers aim to
deliver TOOLS ‘Processing Sanskrit Like English’-

That HANDLE SANSKRIT in DEVANAGARI SCRIPT as VISUAL display,

Spread sheet logic to handle Databases – List processing

OCR to read a scripted document ( by Font map logic)

Solutions that work best for PRINTING LANGAUGE DOCUMENTS

And Claim they have delivered the TECHNO-LINGUSITCS NEEDS OF SAMSKRUTHAM.

This is HANDLING SAMSKRUTH BODY OF DOCUMENTS to run on a given technology,
on the Likeness of ENGLISH .

This is NO WHERE closer to the demanded ‘PROGRAMMING CAPABILITY FROM
PANINI-SAMSKRUTH LANGUAGE’.

The socio-economic global dynamics has redefined the ‘EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS
– OPPORTUNITIES OF SANSKRIT LANGUAGE SCHOLARS / Pursuers/ Students’. This
is given reality which has defined the NATIONAL PRIORITY ARTICUALTIONS
connecting to SAMSKRUTHAM.

If more needed, one may explore the links to see : ‘ Is SANSKRIT A NATIONAL
GOVERNMENT – POLICY - PRIORITY ?

IF YES, For What aspect ? employment, Economy, Pride –Identity, Others ??

IF NO, what are the consequences ?

IF Half-Hearted , long drawn time line , For whose benefit are the projects
??
