Apart from the paper titled "Anugîtâ, an exposé on sâmkhya and yoga doctrines in the Mahâbhârata" by Guy Vincent, tr. into English by Gilles Schaufelberger (available here: http://mahabharata-resources.org/anugita.02.pdf), and, of course, the Kisari Mohan Ganuli translation, are there any other studies or papers or translations available on the AnuGita?

Any input is most welcome.

regards

Ravi Kumarji,

There is Anugita translation with introduction by KT Telang (extracted from his Bhagavad Gita, Sanatsujatiya & Anugita book).

Thank you sir, I also downloaded it through a search on archive.org separately. I actually meant 'translation of any commentary' not 'translation of the text' in the original post. Brain fog.

When it comes to translations of text, we have all those who have translated the Mbh proper. Such as Bibek Debroy, recently. I have that.

thank you

Namaste,

To find papers related to Puranic studies, you may search at Epic & Puranic Bibliography online.

Copying below the results of search for Anugita related papers.
  • 1-5786 Rāmamurti, Kanthimahānti: The essential analysis of the Bhagavadgītā and the Anugītā: 1915
  • 1-6601 Sharma, Arvind: The role of the Anugītā in the understanding of the Bhagavadgītā: 1978
  • 1-7298 Tadpatrikar, S[rinivas] N[arayan]: Gita and Anugita: 1943
  • 1-2375 Ganesan, Ratnam: Yoga in the Bhagavadgītā and Anugītā: 1965

Subbuji,

This site is online bibliography of books and papers related to Puranas. They provide only the bibliographical details. We have to access these papers from public libraries or digital repositories.

I will let you know if any of these papers are available online.

shankara

Dear Shankaraji,

Thank you very much for the 2 articles. The request came to you from Venkatraman and not from Subbuji. I am in fact delighted to be mistaken for Subbuji of whom I am not even a pale shadow.

While on the subject I am looking for a good book on Sanat Sujatiyam.   Web version is ok but a hard copy is preferable. Any help you or anyone else from this forum can give will be greatly appreciated. Regards,

Venkat

Thanks once again,

Venkat.

Venkatji,

Sorry for the confusion regarding your name.

I have heard of 3 Sanskrit commentaries on Sanatsujatiya by Acharyas Sankara, Vadiraja and Nilakantha.

Chaukhambha has published Sanatsujatiya with the commentaries of Sankaracharya & Nilakantha with Hindi translation. I have not seen it. Nor do I know if it is still in print.

Sri Ramakrishna Math has publsihed Sanatsujatiya with Sankarabhashya and English translation by Swami Amritananda. This also seems to be out of print.

Gita Press has publsihed Sanatsujatiya with Sankarabhashya and Hindi translation. This must still be available in their shops or may be purchased online.

Then there are English translations by KT Telang, KM Ganguli, Bibek Debroy, et. al. The last two are part of the Mahabharata translation, not independent publications.

regards
shankara

In case the Sanskrit commentaries on Sanatsujatiya by Acharyas Nilakantha and Vadiraja are the same as what is given in their commentaries on Mahabharata, they are available as follows:

Nilakantha's Bharata Bhavadipa commentary availabe at Internet Archive. Links provided at
Nilakantha has somewhat detailed commentary on Sanatsujatiyam here.

Vadiraja's commentary on Mahabharata, Mahabharatalakshalankara published by Mahabharata Samshodhana Pratishthanam,  Bangalore, in three volumes, 2005-2006. Udyogaparva is part of volume 2.

I tried opening the link to 'The Hundred verses of Bharata Savitri' in the above resources page but was led to:  http://www.giirvaani.net/giirvaani/bs/bs.htm  , a site on ayurveda.  Maybe there is some problem.

Thanks for pointing out the broken link.
I have fixed it now. I have also added a link the Bharatasavitri in Chitrashala edition.
(you may have to do a refresh to get the updated MBh Resources Page)

This is a generic problem I am facing whenever I link to an external source. Sometime back ASI site went through some changes and all the links I had given to Mbh with Nilakantha commentary and Mbh Kumbhakonam Edition got broken.
Only yesterday I fixed the problem by changing the links to the files at Internet Archive.

Best
Harindranath
