dear list members,

does anyone have a simple translation of the Yathartha dipika. I have seen the original marathi commentary but it is difficult for me to understand. Any pointers at translations would be appreciated.

regards,

jaidev bhat.

I am not aware of an English or a Hindi translation of the Marathi Yathārtha-Dīpikā.

Namaste,

There is a Marathi prose translation of Vamana Pandita's commentary by V.K. Desai published in 1900.

Dear Jaidev Ji,

Please note that this book, the Yathārthabodhinī, is not a translation of Vāmana-Paṇḍita's Yathārtha-Dīpikā, but a gist in Marathi based on the work of Vāmana-Paṇḍita.  But this is in a somewhat more modern Marathi as compared to Vāmana-Paṇḍita's original work.

Dear Prof. Madhav Deshpande ji,

Thank you for this important detail. I wish someone would've done a complete translation of this work. I have seen Vamana Pandit's name being mentioned in the Avigita commentary by Pandit Dhupkar Shastri. I wish I could've understood Vamana Pandit's work nicely before seeing what the Avigita has to say about it. However I will try to use the existing summary to the best of my ability.

If anyone has any more information or translations of Vamana Pandit's work or the Avigita, please let me know in this thread.

regards,

jaidev bhat.
