Dear Students and Scholars of Samskritam,
We invite you to join us for the first of a series of webinars that will showcase scholarly lectures entirely in Samskritam.
The goal of this continuing lecture series, hosted by the Center for Ancient Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, is to highlight diverse disciplines where Samskritam is used as a primary language for the production and communication of knowledge.
The series will provide a venue for scholars with the facility to lecture in Samskritam to share their expertise and interact with a wider lay and academic audience. At a broader level, the aim is to encourage experienced academics and intermediate-to-advanced level students to enhance their own ability to comprehend and communicate in Samskritam with ease.
Our first speaker is Dr. Jayaraman Mahadevan, who will deliver a talk on the following subject: चित्तपरिकर्माणि - चित्तसमाधानाय योगशास्त्रोक्ताः सप्तोपायाः
Cittaparikarmāṇi - The seven methods stated in the Yogasūtras for calming the mind
This talk will be held online on Sunday, April 5, 2026 at
