Vyakarana Vidwan Sri. N.T.Srinivasa Iyengar no more

Sri. N.T.Srinivasa Iyengar who served as Professor and later the Principal of Sri Jayachamarajendra Samskrita College, Bengaluru, passed away at his residence at the age of 96 years. 

An accomplished scholar in Vyakarana, Sri NTS Iyengar had participated in a number of vidwad goṣṭhī-s in various forums and received the presents of honor from several Acharyas, Pīṭhādhipati-s, etc. of many Maṭha-s and other institutions. 

He had discoursed on a long term basis on several works such as the Viṣṇu sahasra nāma and the Mahābhārata in the Sringeri Shankara Maṭha and elsewhere.

Individually he has authored many books like Sandhyavandanam, Deshika Stotram in Kannada with pada-vibhajane published by Ubhaya Vedanta Sabha- Malleswaram, Bengaluru.

He had co- authored VALMIKI Ramayanam in Kannada. He has been awarded some titles such as 'Abhinava Vālmīki', 'Kesari', 'Vedāntabhūṣaṇa' in Viṣiśṭādvaita, Karnataka Govt's Rajyotsava Award, etc. 

He was a scholar in Alankāra too. 

His grandson told me that the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Bangalore may have some information of any other books authored by him and also audio recordings of his Valmiki Ramayana discourses.

Interesting. Original verses from VR, or his own? Publication details would be helpful.

As far as I remember, original verses only.

The books were printed at Rama Press that was housed in his own compound. I do not have details at present, and am not sure I can easily get them either.

He was possibly the editor /author/co-author of Vyākaraṇa Praveśa, a book on grammar (abridgement (?)of Siddhānta Kaumudī  with perhaps a new vṛtti) prescribed (perhaps even now, and for over 20 years) for traditional Sanskrit examinations in Karnataka. (Prof Varakhedi or Prof Veeranarayana Pandurangi can provide some authentic/fuller details).

It was his father who taught Mahābhāṣya to Mahāmahopādhyāya NRanganatha Sharma also.

The end lines of these books says श्रीमदात्रेयतिरुनारायणार्यतनूजश्रीनिवसदासेन संघटिते संग्रहरामायणे......... The name of the printing press is mentioned as Sri Rama Press Shankarapuram, Bangalore - 4.
